Mediterráneo International

We believe that internationalisation is a means for us to further research, improve the quality in education, and support our students and staff

A centre with a strong international vocation

In Mediterráneo International we have a clear international vocation, which is reflected in our strong focus on international programmes, and our efforts to constantly engage with the latest policies at a European and international level. We have been awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) until 2027, and we work to provide our students with the best international experiences. We believe that internationalisation is a means for us to further research, improve the quality in education, and support our students and staff. Our centre would not be the same without the richness that cultural exchange, diversity of perspectives, and different life experiences bring to it, thanks to our priority: to include internationalisation in our objectives and activities.

Mediterráneo International is an agency for transnational mobility and a host institution based in Valencia, that also promotes the design and implementation of initiatives funded in the field of European policies for development, innovation, training, research, and territorial cooperation. During recent years, we have participated in many European projects, encouraging transnational cooperation between organisations and the mobility of students. We receive around 500 students per year from all over Europe that take part in different educational projects, and we organise teaching, training, and learning activities.

Valencia, the place to be

Being the third largest city in Spain, our Mediterranean climate allows you to enjoy its 25 kilometres of coast for many months. Valencia is always found among the top 5 of best European cities because it is a very easy and pleasant place to live.

The city is especially known for its impressive and modern monuments like the City of Arts and Sciences. Public transport is well developed, and the subway network now has 9 lines and continues to expand.

Valencia is also known for its famous festivities such as Las Fallas, a unique folk festival both artistic, religious, gastronomic, musical, pyrotechnic, and intergenerational. We are lucky because we have a total of 2.660 hours of sunshine!

Our goals: in line with the latest European policies

From Mediterraneo Culinary Center and its international department, we are committed with sustainability and digitalization. We have implemented actions that align with the Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations, especially goal nº 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production”, the European Green Deal and the European “From Farm to Fork” strategy.

We have developed a Sustainability Protocol to integrate education for sustainability into the culture and life of the school. Our objective is to achieve a sustainable cuisine, introducing the concept of environmental responsibility in our educational materials teaching about production processes, waste reduction, efficient supply, km 0,
seasonality and origin, and energy consumption. As host institution within the Erasmus+ Programme, our centre welcomes students from other European contexts. We hand a short guide to our international students with tips to make their trips more sustainable.

We are constantly looking for new opportunities. That is why we are interested in different EU programmes that will allow us to collaborate transnationally, interchange good practices, and innovate in fields related to these international policies.

European tools

We are part of different European networks, and we use European tools to create synergies with other centres, promoting collaboration and understanding with our European colleagues.

We are part of Efvet, eTwinning, and EPALE, online communities for schools in Europe, that help us find partners to collaborate on projects within a secure network and platform. We also give Europass certifications, and we follow ECVET recommendations, a powerful tool to increase cross-border cooperation in education and training.
